2026 Year of the Horse Quadrant – 1 oz Silver Proof Colorized 4-Coin Set
The Year of the Horse Collection from the Perth Mint includes a distinctive Silver Proof Colorized Quadrant 4-Coin Set.
This unique release consists of four individual 1 oz silver coins from the Lunar Series III, precision-shaped to assemble into a full circle with an open square at the center.
The quadrant format is inspired by the ancient ban-liang coin, the first standardized currency of the Chinese Empire, originally cast during the Qin Dynasty around 200 BC.
Each set contains a total of 4 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver, with colorized reverse designs enhanced by a proof finish. Production is limited to just 1,500 sets worldwide.

The Design
When assembled, the four coins form a complete circle with an open square at the center, mirroring the structure of ancient Chinese coinage.
The obverse of each coin is struck in a monochrome proof finish, exhibiting a highly reflective, mirror-like surface. Each quadrant features a portrait of King Charles III by Dan Thorne, along with inscriptions noting the coin’s weight, purity, metal type, face value, and the legend “CHARLES III · AUSTRALIA.”
The reverse designs collectively depict four distinct horse scenes: The upper quadrant features a white Friesian horse with a brown mane, rearing dynamically. The right quadrant shows a chestnut horse running along a rural track. The lower quadrant illustrates a Palomino mare and foal facing one another. The left quadrant portrays a dark bay horse standing on rugged terrain. The reverse artwork includes the designer’s initials “LB” and the Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark.
The Year of the Horse
The Chinese Zodiac follows a twelve-year cycle, with each year represented by an animal sign. The Year of the Horse returns in 2026, following previous cycles in 2014, 2002, and 1990.
Those born under the Horse sign are traditionally associated with energy, independence, and determination. As the seventh sign of the zodiac, the Horse is often linked to vitality, freedom, and ambition.
