2026 NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coin
U.S. Gold Eagles serve as the nation’s official gold bullion coins and are produced in multiple sizes and finish options.
The 1/10 oz Gold Eagle is the smallest denomination in the series, carrying a $5 face value, legal tender status, and a full one-tenth troy ounce of gold alloyed with copper to enhance strength and longevity.
As with the larger versions, its detailed artwork features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ iconic portrayal of Lady Liberty, paired with the enduring image of the Bald Eagle.
Today, SD Bullion offers 2026 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coins purchased from the US Mint on day #1 of their official release and graded by NGC as MS-70.

The Design
Augustus Saint Gaudens’ design portrays Lady Liberty walking forward, with the sun's rays in the background, carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing progress, light, and peace.
The design also features the word “LIBERTY” engraved at the top, the year of issuance at the lower right, and the US Capitol Building imprinted at the lower left.
On the reverse, Norris’s Bald Eagle has a frontal close-up, highlighting its hooked beak and a staring gaze.
The coin’s face value, weight, and metal content are inscribed as “5 DOLLARS” and “1/10 OZ FINE GOLD.” Additional engravings read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
An NGC MS-70 “First Day of Issue” Coin
NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) uses the Sheldon Grading Scale to evaluate and attribute grades to coins.
NGC considers “First Day of Issue” the coins purchased from their original mint on the first day of their official release and submitted to its appraisal.
MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin shows no wear, tear, or scratches, earning it a 70 grade.
