The Design

The obverse exhibits King Charles III’s official effigy, designed by Steve Rosati. The encircling inscriptions around His Majesty’s bust read “CHARLES III,” “5 DOLLARS,” and the year of issuance.

The reverse features the Sugar Maple Leaf design, signed by Walter Ott. It is engraved “CANADA”, “9999,” “FINE GOLD,” “1/10 OZ,” “OR PUR,” and “9999,” which describes the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity in English and French. 

Both background surfaces are incused with radial lines. A small maple leaf is positioned on the lower right of the reverse design, beneath the main one, with the last two digits of the year of mintage micro-engraved as a security feature.
