The Design

The obverse features Lady Liberty walking toward the rising sun, surrounded by the American flag. She carries oak and laurel branches in one arm, while the other is extended forward, representing peace and new beginnings. 

It also contains the inscriptions 'LIBERTY,' 'IN GOD WE TRUST,' the coin’s year of issue, and the commemorative privy mark.

The privy mark features the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, the official emblem of the U.S. Marine Corps. Encircling the symbol are the words “UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS.” 

The reverse displays a modern depiction of a Bald Eagle in mid-flight, clutching an oak branch in its talons. Surrounding the design are the words 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,' 'ONE DOLLAR,' '1 OZ. FINE SILVER,' and the motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM.'"

An NGC PF-70 First Day of Issue Coin 

NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company works independently from sovereign mints to certify coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.

NGC considers “First Day of Issue” a coin purchased from its original mint on the first day of its official release and submitted to its appraisal.

PF stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements.
