2025 NGC MS-70 Early Releases 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coin
The US Mint crafts American Gold Eagles of varied sizes and finishes annually. In addition to a standard 1 Troy oz gold coin, US Gold Eagles are minted from 22k gold weighing 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz.
The US 1/4 Gold Eagle holds a 10-dollar face value and is legal tender in the US. It is imprinted with the Bald Eagle and Lady Liberty, two icons of American coinage.

The Design
Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed Lady Liberty for the 1907 $20 Double Eagle gold coin. The coin features Liberty walking forward in a sign of progress, the torch representing enlightenment, and the olive branch representing peace.
The obverse is also engraved with the word “LIBERTY,” stars representing national states, the year of issuance, and the US Capitol Building imprinted on the lower left.
The reverse depicts the Bald Eagle designed by Jennie Norris in a close-up in left profile, with a hooked beak and a staring gaze.
It is inscribed with the words “10 DOLLARS” and “1/4 OZ FINE GOLD,” referring to denomination, weight, and metal content, the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
An NGC MS-70 Early Releases Coin
NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) uses the Sheldon Grading Scale to evaluate and attribute grades to coins.
NGC considers “Early Releases” the coins purchased and taken to its evaluation within the first 30 days of public release by their original mint.
MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin has no sign of wear, tear, or scratching, which grants it a 70 grade.
