The Design

The reverse design is the product of a collaborative effort between Gordon Summers, Chief Engraver of the Royal Mint, and Joseph Menna, Chief Engraver of the US Mint.

Britannia and Liberty are depicted through closeups of their right-side profiles, with their heads positioned in opposing orientations.

Britannia wears a Corinthian helmet and carries a trident, while Lady Liberty holds a torch and has free-flowing, star-adorned hair.

Inscriptions on the outer rim read “BRITANNIA AND LIBERTY” and “2025” “1 OZ 999.9 FINE GOLD,” which describe the coin’s issuance, weight, fineness, and metal content.

The effigy of King Charles III portrayed in the obverse is the same as that used in Britannia coins, designed by Martin Jennings. 

His Majesty’s portrayal is encircled by “CHARLES III,” the initials “D.G.REX.F.D,” which in Latin means “By the grace of God, King,” and “100 POUNDS,” for face value.
