The Design

The obverse exhibits King Charles III’s official effigy, designed by Steve Rosati. The inscriptions surrounding His Majesty’s bust read “CHARLES III,” 5 DOLLARS,” and the year of issuance.

The reverse displays the Sugar Maple Leaf design, signed by Walter Ott. It is inscribed “CANADA”, “9999,” “FINE GOLD,” “1/10 OZ,” “OR PUR,” and “9999,” which describes the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity in English and French. 

Both background surfaces are incused with radial lines. A small maple leaf lies on the lower right of the reverse design, beneath the main one, with the year of mintage’s last two digits micro-engraved as a security feature.
