The U.S. Mint commemorates the 230th anniversary of the historic Flowing Hair dollar, the first dollar coin issued by the federal government on October 15, 1794. 

This limited-edition silver medal precisely replicates the original obverse and reverse designs and is crafted from 1 Troy oz of 99.9% fine silver.

This strike is limited to just 1,794 medals, each featuring a special “230” privy mark.

The Design

The obverse recreates the US' first dollar coin, depicting Lady Liberty in a right-facing profile encircled by 15 stars, symbolizing the states that had ratified the Constitution by 1794. 

It includes the word “LIBERTY” and an updated date of “2024,” with the “230” privy mark positioned in the lower right corner.

The reverse features a laurel wreath encircling an eagle with outstretched wings at the center, an early precursor to the American heraldic eagle, and the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”

PCGS (Professional Coins Grading Service) appraises and certifies coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
