2024 NGC MS-70 FUN Show Releases Peace Dollar Silver Coin

The US Mint crafted the Peace Silver Dollar between 1921 and 1928 and again from 1934 to 1935. 

It served as the official circulating dollar coin in that period, but it also represented the national commitment to peace after World War I and acknowledged the nation's international influence. 

The US Mint struck a commemorative edition in 2021 to celebrate the centennial of the first issuance of Peace Silver Dollars.

The FUN Show, organized by the Florida United Numismatists (FUN), is one of the largest and most prestigious coin shows in the United States. Held annually in Florida, the event attracts coin collectors, dealers, and numismatic enthusiasts worldwide.

This coin is graded as MS-70 by NGC and features the special label “FUN Show Releases” because they were purchased from the US Mint’s booth and submitted to NGC at the convention.

The Design

On the obverse, Lady Liberty, designed by artist Anthony de Francisci in 1921, wears a radiant crown inscribed “LIBERTY.”

The motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the year of issuance accompany the image.

The reverse displays a peaceful bald eagle resting on a rock, holding an olive branch in its talon. 

It also contains the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “PEACE.”

An NGC MS-70 Coin 

NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) works independently from sovereign mints, appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.

MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin has no flaws, which grants it a 70 grade.
