2024 NGC MS-70 Early Release 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin
Graded American Gold Eagles ensure investors and collectors of the highest possible condition of a bullion coin.
NGC, the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, is a globally recognized coin-grading company. These coins are certified Early Release MS-70 specimens, which means they are from the first 30 days of production in the US Mint.
Gold Eagle Coins are among the most popular gold bullion coins in the world. They are the official gold bullion coin of the United States. They hold a $50 legal tender face value and are made of 22-carat gold.
Coin Highlights
- The official gold bullion coin of the USA;
- Certified and encapsulated as a perfect MS-70 coin by the NGC;
- Made in the first 30 production days;
- 39th edition of the Gold Eagle coin;
- Contains 1 oz of 22-carat gold (.9167 fineness);
- Bears a USD 50 denomination and legal tender status;
- With anti-counterfeiting reeded edges;
- Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty is on the obverse;
- Jennie Norris’ Bald Eagle is on the reverse.
The Design
The Lady Liberty design imprinted in the Gold Eagle obverse reproduces Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ $20 Double Eagle Coin from 1933.
She walks forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch. While the torch symbolizes enlightenment, the oak means peace and the march ahead, evolution.
The Capitol Building has a discreet figure on the lower left, and the mintage year is on the lower right. Six-pointed stars encircle the image with the word “LIBERTY” on the border.
The 35th anniversary of the series gave the coin a new reverse design. The Eagle has a frontal close-up with a deep glance and hooked beak.
The inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” arch over the Eagle. And, on the bottom rim, “50 DOLLARS,” “1 OZ. FINE GOLD” refers to the face value, weight, and metal content.
The Sheldon Grading Scale
Dr. Willian Herbert Sheldon developed this scale in 1949, establishing a standard code to evaluate coins based on their condition and authenticity. The scale varies from 70 to 1. The highest grade a coin gets, the nearer to perfection it is.
The NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company is a third-party service globally recognized that uses the Sheldon Grading Scale to evaluate and certify coins.
An MS-70 Coin
MS stands for Mint State. It means the analyzed coin is in the same perfect condition as initially produced. It has never circulated, presenting no visible signs of wear, tear, or scratching.
Therefore, an MS-70 coin is in perfect mint condition.
