2024 CAC MS-70 First Day of Delivery Peace Dollar Silver Coin

The Peace Silver Dollar is a notable American silver coin from the 20th century. It succeeded the Morgan Silver Dollar and was minted by the US Mint between 1921 and 1928 and again from 1934 to 1935. 

The coin was named and designed to honor the nation’s international power after the sacrifices made during World War I and to celebrate peace.

In 2021, the US Mint released a special limited edition of the Peace Silver Dollar for its 100th anniversary. Production was paused in 2022 due to a shortage of silver blanks but restarted in 2023.

Today, you can acquire 2024 Peace Silver Dollars, purchased from the US Mint on day #1 of their official release and sealed in CAC slabs as MS-70 coins.

The Design

The Peace Dollar's obverse design showcases Lady Liberty’s original depiction, created by artist Anthony de Francisci in 1921. It shows Liberty wearing a radiant crown, with the engravings “LIBERTY” arching over her depiction, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” flanking her neck, and the year of issuance at the bottom.

The reverse features a peaceful bald eagle resting on a rock, holding an olive branch in its talon. The inscriptions follow the obverse pattern, in which “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are on top, “ONE DOLLAR” flanks the Eagle, and “PEACE” lies at the bottom rim.

Like other renowned third-party services, CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) appraises and certifies coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.

MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin has no flaws, which grants it a 70 grade.

CAC considers “First Day of Delivery” a coin purchased from its original mint on the very first day of its official release.
