2024 5 oz Year of the Dragon Silver Coin - Lunar Series III
The Lunar Series III from the Perth Mint offers investors and collectors several types of coins. The variation comprises platinum gold and silver coins of different size options. The 5 oz is included in the list of silver coins. They are heavier than a traditional one-ounce coin and may stand out in a collection.
It features the same series design. Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, this mystic creature stamps the reverse side of this coin.
The Dragon is the fifth zodiac sign in the Chinese Calendar. According to the Chinese zodiac, the mythical animal’s traits reflect how the year will go. Therefore, 2024 is expected to be magical, bringing good fortune and prosperity.

The Design
The silver coins of the series display a unique depiction of the Dragon. It showcases a frontal close-up of the Dragon, with water cascading from its mouth, twisted body, paws, and the pearl, which means wisdom. The engravings on this side correspond to the Chinese symbol for the creature, “DRAGON 2024,” and a “P125,” which stands for the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint, and they are all beneath the image.
The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II featured on the obverse design is signed by artist Jody Clark. Her Majesty’s right-profile bust is accompanied by “ELIZABETH II,” “1952-2022,” “AUSTRALIA,” “5 oz 9999 Ag,” and “8 DOLLARS,” describing Her name and reigning period, the coin’s origin, weight, purity, metal content, and face value.
