The Design

The 1 oz Gold Libertad features the eleven Coats of Arms used throughout Mexican history.

The current seal is centralized, encircled by “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS,” and its previous versions are on the border. The common motif of the seals is the Independence effort through the symbolic Eagle defeating the foreign rattlesnake.

The Winged Victory, on the reverse, reproduces the 17-foot statue atop the monument dedicated to the national independence in Mexico City. 

The engravings “1 ONZA ORO PURO”, “2024,” and “LEY .999” stand for weight, metal content, issuance, and purity levels. The “M” refers to the mintmark.
