The Design

This coin features a rectangular shape, rounded edges, and a smooth surface.

The obverse displays Dan Thorne’s effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, along with the coin’s weight, purity, and monetary denomination, inscribed as “CHARLES III,” “AUSTRALIA,” “100 DOLLARS,” and “1 oz 9999 Au.” 

On the reverse, an oriental dragon looks at a flaming pearl, representing wisdom. The background shows water, symbolizing the dragon’s control, and clouds, seen as omens of good luck. 

The design also includes the inscription '2024,' marking the Year of the Dragon in lunar mythology, and a 'P125' mintmark to commemorate The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.
