2024 1 oz Cortes Gold Coin - Commander Series
The Scottsdale Mint's Commander Series pays homage to the most emblematic leaders who played relevant roles in world history. The series aims to deliver three effigies at each annual strike of silver and gold coins.
The series debuted in 2024, introducing Napoleon Bonaparte and then General George Smith Patton Junior. The third strike of 2024 showcases Cortés.
Hernán Cortés de Monroy y Pizarro Altamirano, 1st Marquess of the Valley of Oaxaca, was a Spanish explorer who headed an expedition that led to the downfall of the Aztec Empire, bringing much of present-day mainland Mexico under the control of the King of Castile in the early 16th century. Cortés was among those Spanish explorers and conquistadors who initiated the first phase of Spanish colonization in the Americas.
Today, SD Bullion offers the Scottsdale Mint's Commander Series, including the 2024 1 oz Cortés Gold Coin.
