The Design

Like all fractionals in the series, the 1/4 oz coin features only the current Coat of Arms of Mexico on the obverse. 

The image displays an eagle, symbolizing the nation, perched on a prickly cactus and devouring a rattlesnake, representing Spanish domination. The emblem is encircled by the words “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.” 

The reverse side shows the Winged Victory, the nation's feminine personification, which is also a monument in Mexico City. This side also includes the inscriptions “1/4 ONZA ORO PURO,” “2024,” and “LEY .999,” indicating the coin’s weight, metal content, year of issuance, and purity.

The “M” mint mark aside identifies the Mexican Mint.

Because it is a proof coin, the background surfaces exhibit a mirror-like luster, contrasting with the frozen design mages imprinted.
