2023-S PCGS PR-69 1 oz American Eagle Silver Proof Coin
The American Silver Eagle is celebrated as one of the world’s best-selling and most popular silver coins. Introduced by the US Mint in 1986 alongside the launch of the American Eagle Program, it has become a symbol of quality and craftsmanship.
Each Silver Eagle contains 1 troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver, carries legal tender status, and features an iconic obverse design: Adolph A. Weinman’s timeless “Walking Liberty.” The reverse showcases Emily Damstra’s modern depiction of a Bald Eagle, adding to the coin’s appeal.
Alongside the standard bullion coins, the US Mint also produces Proof Silver Eagles, distinguished by their radiant luster that emphasizes the coin’s intricate details. These proof versions, struck at the San Francisco Mint, bear the “S” mint mark.
Today, SD Bullion offers 2023-S 1 oz American Eagle Silver Proof Coins, sealed in PCGS slabs and certified as PR-69 samples.

The Walking Liberty, designed on the obverse, features Lady Liberty with the American flag draped on her shoulder and oak branches on her arm. As she walks with a stretched arm, she generously welcomes those looking for a fresh start in the new land.
Additional inscriptions read “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of mintage.
The Bald Eagle, long used on the reverse design, was updated in 2021, marking the program's 35th anniversary. The new depiction, of the Eagle perching on a branch, became the current image.
Inscriptions regarding the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity are: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER.”
A PCGS PR-69 Coin
PCGS—Professional Coin Grading Service appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70.
PR stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 69 is the grade attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
