The Design
The obverse showcases Susan Blunt’s portrait of the former monarch Queen Elizabeth II and her reigning period of the left, “1952-2022.”
The inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “D. G. REGINA,” which means “By the grace of God, Queen” in Latin, and “200 DOLLARS,” referring to the coin’s face value, are on the outer rim.
The reverse design reproduces the locomotive used to bring passengers and supplies by the White Pass and the Yukon Route Railway.
On the left, prospectors mine and try to recover placer gold. Sluice boxes keep the gold recovered, and in the end, it pours on an encircled maple leaf, a symbol of the Canadian nation.
“CANADA” and “2023” are the engravings arching over the image.
“FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR” on the bottom corresponds to the coin’s weight and metal content written in English and French, national official languages.
The coin’s purity level is next to it and reads “99999.”
The RCM Bullion DNA
It consists of exclusive anticounterfeiting measures. The radial lines in the background of the coin’s surfaces, serrated edges, and a textured maple leaf on the reverse design with the number “23” laser micro-engraved are part of this complex security system.
