The Design:

The coin is unlike any other Royal Canadian Gold coin. The reverse depicts an individual panning for gold. The scene shows the individual pouring contents through a sifter, resulting in gold on the bottom. The design is portrayed with great detail. 

The reverse features a few notable markings. First, the top of the coin lists the issuing country and year of issue. Next, the bottom half of the coin features “Fine Gold 1 oz OR PUR.” Above these words, you will find the purity of “99999” inscribed into the coin, in addition to a micro-engraved maple leaf mark with the number 22 inside of it. This serves as another protective factor to ensure authenticity. Lastly, the reverse features the initials of the coin designer, Steven Hepburn.

The right-profile effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse face. The coin's face value of $200 is backed by the issuing country of Canada, making it the highest face value of any legal tender 1-ounce gold bullion coin.
