The Mexican Mint, which dates back to 1535, is one of the continent's oldest minting facilities. It is now known as La Casa de Moneda de Mexico and serves as Mexico's National Mint. It produces excellent gold and silver bullion commodities in addition to issuing Mexico's circulating currency. The year 2021 Marks the 40th annual release of the Mexican Libertad coin
The one troy ounce coin is struck with .999 fine silver and is a part of a limited mintage release. Although the exact number is unknown, we know that last year’s mintage was 300,000 one-ounce coins, and the 2021 mintage is less than the 2020 issue.
The Design
The design of the Mexican Libertad is what draws attention to the coin year after year. The Mexican Coat of Arms – a fearsome eagle tearing through a snake with its sharp beak – is shown on the reverse of Mexican Silver Libertads. Additionally, the image of the present Mexican Coat of Arms is surrounded by all of Mexico's ancient coats of arms.
The obverse features the beautiful Angel of Independence superimposed on the famous Mexican volcanoes of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. The Angel of Independence is an important historical landmark as it was built in 1910 to commemorate the beginning of Mexico’s War of Independence. The design has been featured on the obverse design since 1996. Lastly, the obverse face features the weight, purity, and year of issue on this coin.
The historical Mexican Libertad coin is a fantastic addition to any collection for its uniqueness in design, mintage, and appreciation value. If you have any questions, a trader would be more than happy to answer you at sales@sdbullion.com or over the phone at 1-800-294-8732.
