2021 1/4 oz Mexican Libertad Silver Coin
The Mexican Libertad series is one of the most sought-after coin series in the bullion world for many reasons, the most prominent reason being the beautiful design. The Libertad series began in 1989 when the Mexican Mint struck the first coins in the series: 3,500 ½ ounce platinum Libertads. From there, the coin series has expanded to focus on gold and silver and with each annual release, the product sells out very quickly.
The silver Libertad coin is available in a variety of sizes in the most recent 2021 release, including 1/20, 1/10, 14, 12, 1, 2, and 5-ounce pieces. The 2021 1/4 oz Mexican Libertad Silver Coin is now available for purchase at SD Bullion, so don't wait to get yours!
Those familiar with continental American history easily recognize the Mexican Mint (also known as La Casa de Moneda de México). The mint was founded in 1535, making it the Americas' oldest mint. The Mexican Mint thrived in part because of the region's easy availability of vast amounts of silver. The Libertad series was initially struck in 1982 and has been a hit ever since. The coin is struck in both gold and silver, and each year, both types have a limited mintage. The low mintage of the coins allows for the coins to appreciate over time.
The Design
The reverse face of the 1/2 oz Mexican Libertad Silver Coin is distinct from the larger versions of the Mexican Libertad Silver Coin. The Mexican National Coat of Arms is featured on the reverse side. The words "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" appear above the coat of arms. The current coat of arms is encircled by the previous ten coats of arms in Mexico on the non-fractional coin of the Libertad series, making this coin different than its larger counterparts. The additional coats are removed because of the restricted area available on this fractional piece.
The obverse face of this coin remains the same as all other Mexican Libertads in the series. This face features the beautiful winged Angel of Independence, a historical monument located in Mexico City.
The historical Mexican Libertad coin is a fantastic addition to any collection because of its distinct appearance, limited mintage, and appreciating value. If you have any questions, please contact sales@sdbullion.com or call 1-800-294-8732, and a trader will be happy to help.
