2020-S PCGS PR-69 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof Coin
American Silver Eagles are the official silver coins of the United States, crafted from 99.9% fine silver.
These coins feature iconic designs by Adolph A. Weinman and John Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint.
In addition to standard bullion coins, the US Mint also produces Proof Silver Eagles. These proof coins are renowned for their flawless aesthetics, exceptional precision, and mirror-like finish, which highlights every intricate detail of the design elements.
The Proof Silver Eagles issued in the San Francisco Mint are imprinted with the “S” mint mark.
Today, SD Bullion offers 2020-S 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof coins, sealed in PCGS slabs and graded as PR-69 coins.

The Design
The reverse, designed by John Mercanti, depicts the Heraldic Eagle carrying the national seal on its chest, arrows and olive branches on its talons, and a banner with the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on its beak. The thirteen stars on top refer to the original Thirteen Colonies.
The engravings “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR” explain face value, weight, metal content, and purity.
Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design was initially used on 1917 Half-Dollar Coins.
It depicts Lady Liberty enveloped in the American flag and holding oak and laurel branches in her arm. The inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance accompany the image.
Because it is a proof coin, its surfaces exhibit a mirror-like luster, which contrasts with the design’s frosted image.
A PCGS PR-69 Coin
The Sheldon Grading Scale ranges from 1 to 70 and is used as a parameter for third-party services, like PCGS, which stands for Professional Coin Grading Service, to appraise and grade coins.
According to the scale, PR stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 69 is the grade attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
