2020 1 oz EC8 Dominica Hummingbird Gold Coin
The EC8 Series is a creation of the Scottsdale Mint aimed to showcase the natural beauties found in the eight islands that compose up the Eastern Caribbean. Each annual strike brings eight coins, named after a different island, and brings an exclusive depiction to stamp silver and gold coins of the series. This gold coin is named after the Dominica nations. It is a 2020 serialized edition, limited to 2,500 units, featuring the Hummingbird as a motif.
These coins contain 1 oz of 999.9 pure gold, face value, and legal tender status, fully guaranteed by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. Therefore, more than a lovely collectible, they also serve as a valuable investment option.

The Design
The obverse design consists of Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy surrounded by laurels. The information engraved on the outer rim refers to the “EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK,” which provides the coin with legal tender, face value of “TEN DOLLARS,” weight, purity level, and metal content through “1 OZ .9999 GOLD,” and “QUEEN ELIZABETH II.”
The reverse features a Hummingbird, a native bird from Central and South America listed as a critically endangered species. The engravings accompanying the bird’s depiction read: “DOMINICA” and “2020.” Proof-like gold coins are gold pieces that received a special polish to exhibit a shiny luster. Because of that, the background of these coins is mirror-like reflective, contrasting with the images imprinted on their surfaces.
