The Perth Mint released the first rectangular Dragon Gold Coin in 2018.

It consists of a 1 Troy oz gold bullion coin with an exceptional purity level of 99.99%, face value, and legal tender status. However, instead of a traditional circular-shaped coin, it features a unique rectangular format.

The alluring Dragon design is a real testament to the Perth Mint’s expertise and high craftsmanship in bullion making.

The 2019 1 oz Dragon Rectangular Gold Coin is the second strike of the Perth Mint series of rectangular coins and is available at SD Bullion.

The Design

This coin looks like a minted ingot. It is a rectangularly shaped gold bullion piece with rounded edges, a smooth surface, and design details imprinted on both sides in portrait orientation.

The obverse showcases the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the leader of the Commonwealth Community, designed by Jody Clark. 

The inscriptions on this side start with “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” “1 oz 9999 Au”, which refers to the Queen’s name, the coin’s origin, weight, purity, and metal content.

The description of the coin’s face value of “100 DOLLARS” and the year of issuance, “2019,” are beneath Her Majesty’s portrait.

The Dragon design is the only feature on the reverse side. It showcases the mythical creature with its twisted body among clouds.
