The Design

The obverse features a contemporary version of Lady Liberty wearing a crown of stars. The image is a joint effort of artists Phebe Hemphill and Justin Kunz, whose initials flank Liberty’s bust.

The design also displays the word “LIBERTY” engraved on top, “2018” aside, and the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” at the bottom.

The reverse design showcases the Bald Eagle flying. Chris Costello and Michael Gaudioso are the artists in charge of this design, whose initials are beneath the bird.

The inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” arches over the image. The coin’s description of weight, purity, and metal content is on the left, near the “W” mint mark, and reads: “1/10 OZ .9999 FINE GOLD.” At the bottom, the coin’s face value reads ‘10 DOLLARS.'

Because it is a proof coin, its surfaces reflect a mirror-like luster with a matte finish applied to the design elements, creating an elegant contrast.
