The 11th silver coin releases under the famed Perth Mint Lunar Series II are now available at SD Bullion. These 2018 10 Kilo Year of the Dog Silver Coins are the heaviest silver coins released this year.
The year 2018 comes under the influence of the dog according to the Chinese zodiac. All those born under this sign’s influence are considered loyal, amiable, kind, and friendly. Since the Chinese zodiac features 12 animals, the Perth Mint will release 12 coins under the Lunar Series II coin program – one for each animal in the zodiac.
Each of these coins contains 10 Kg of 0.9999 pure silver (a whopping 321.5 ounces of silver), and carries a face value of $300 (AUD). Since this is the first time that Lunar Series II silver coins have been struck using 0.9999 fine silver instead of 0.999 purity silver, this release marks another important milestone.
Two German Shepherds, an adult and its pup, are depicted on the reverses of these coins – lying in the grass with Chinese peony flowers beautifying the background.
On the other hand, Ian Rank-Broadley’s rendition of Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy graces the obverse sides of these coins. All legal tender in Australia, including these coins, bear this image of the Queen – indicating the backing of the Australian government.
These 2018 10 Kilo Year of the Dog Silver Coins carry the unique trait of being the heaviest and most valuable silver coin released this year – making them appealing to both collectors and investors who want to add considerable pure silver to their precious metals portfolio, while making sure that their Australian Lunar Series II collection remains complete.
