The 2013 1 oz Perth Mint Year of the Snake Coins are the sixth release in the widely popular Lunar Series II; a silver coin series from the Perth Mint. Each of these coins in the series have limited mintages with each of the one ounce silver coins having mintages of just 300,000 coins. These coins will be in BU condition and will come individually encapsulated. Each of these silver coins will contain 1 oz of 999 silver bullion.

The Chinese Lunar Year Calendar features 12 different animals, meaning that the next Year of the Snake will come in 2025.

The original purpose of the Perth Mint, founded in 1899 as a subsidiary of the British Royal Mint, was to provide the British Empire with gold from the immense mines in Western Australia. It was not until 1987 that the Australian government took control of the Perth Mint and established the official programs for the silver coins and other Perth Mint precious metals products that are now well-known worldwide.

The obverse of these silver coins features a snake wrapped around a tree branch with the Chinese symbol for “snake” to its left and “Year of the Snake” minted below it.

The reverse features the iconic side profile of a young Queen Elizabeth with “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA”, “1 DOLLAR”, “2013”, & “1 OZ 999 SILVER” minted around the circumference of the coin.
