Perth Mint’s highly acclaimed Lunar Series II coin program – the 2018 ½ oz Year of the Dog Silver Coins, are now available at SD Bullion. These coins commemorate the Year of the Dog according to the Chinese calendar – 2018.
Perth Mint has been celebrating the Chinese calendar and the animals in its zodiac since 1999, when it introduced the Lunar Series I. This series featured 12 coins, each highlighting the animal influencing the release year. Similarly, the Lunar Series II will also have a total of 12 coin releases.
Each of these coins contains ½ troy ounces of 0.9999 pure silver. In fact, this is the very first time Perth Mint has used 0.9999 pure silver to strike coins for this coin program. All preceding Australian Lunar Series II coin releases contained 0.999 fine silver. Furthermore, these coins are considered Australian legal tender coins, and carry face values of 50c (0.50 AUD).
The heart-warming depiction of a dog and its pup makes an appearance on the reverse sides of these coins. They are sitting in rapt attention, staring at something very intently – ears cocked. The Chinese character for the word ‘dog’ is imprinted above the aforementioned design.
Add these 2018 ½ oz Year of the Dog Silver Coins to your silver coin collections, taking you a step closer to owning the complete Lunar Series II set of silver bullion coins. Their 0.9999 pure silver content also makes them excellent vehicles for silver investments – diversifying precious metals portfolios.
