The 5th BU Silver Coin released under the Egyptian Relic Series, the 2017 2 oz Republic of Chad Pharaoh Ramesses II Afterlife Silver Coin, is now available at SD Bullion! Drifting from its usual release and design trends, Scottsdale Mint has launched a pair of coins bearing similar imagery, but featuring different takes, this year.
The Egyptian Relic Series consists of three silver coins (2 x 5 oz and 1 x 2 oz) and one 2 oz gold coin. However, this release is somewhat unique as Scottsdale Mint split the 2017 releases of 50,000 coins into two products with mintages of 25,000 each - a Pharaoh Ramesses II silver coin and a Pharaoh Ramesses II Afterlife Silver coin.
Each of these coins contains 2 troy ounces of 0.999 pure silver. Moreover, they are considered legal tender in the Republic of Chad with 1000 CFA face values.
The obverse of this particular coin captures the Pharaoh Ramesses II in the afterlife. His skeleton is depicted wearing the complete traditional garb of the Pharaoh, while his name is imprinted above this surprisingly eerie image.
