The Design

As the moniker suggests, Lady Liberty is depicted walking toward the sun's rays. She has the American flag draped on her shoulder, oak and laurel branches in one arm, and the other arm stretched in a welcome sign.

The engravings correspond to the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance.

The reverse features the Heraldic Eagle with 13 stars above its head, representing the Thirteen Original Colonies, the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches on its talons, and a banner with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on its beak. 

Encircling the image, read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR,” describing face value, weight, metal content, and purity.

Because it is a proof coin, its surfaces exhibit a mirror-like luster, which contrasts with the design’s frosted image.

A PCGS PR-69 Coin 

PCGS, which stands for Professional Coin Grading Service, operates like other third-party entities in appraising and grading coins. They utilize the Sheldon Scale, a grading system ranging from 1 to 70, to evaluate coins based on their condition.

According to the scale, PR stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 69 is the grade attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
