The Great Sand Dunes Silver Coin is the fourth strike of the 2014 edition and the 24th in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.
The Great Sand Dunes National Park is located in Colorado and houses the tallest sand dunes in North America. They rise about 750 feet (230 m) from the floor of the San Luis Valley on the western base of the Sangre de Cristo Range and cover about 19,000 acres (7,700 ha).

The Design
The obverse displays George Washington's bust, designed by John Flanagan in 1932. This design is inspired by the official effigy of the former President created by William Cousins in 1786.
It also features the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”
The reverse showcases what seems to be a father and his son next to a river, with the sand dunes as a backdrop. The image is surrounded by the engravings "GREAT SAND DUNES," "COLORADO," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and “2014.”
