The Design

The obverse rescued Augustus Saint-Gaudens' 1907 $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin.

Lady Liberty marches forward carrying a torch and an olive branch as a symbol of national progress toward peace and enlightenment. It includes the Capitol Building, the word “LIBERTY,” and the mintage year.

The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, contains a female eagle cherishing her hatchling under her wing while the male perches on their nest. 

Weight, metal content, and face value are described as “1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD—5 DOLLARS.” Additional engravings read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
