2013-P NGC SP-69 Early Releases 5 oz America The Beautiful Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial Burnished Silver Coin
The US Mint launched the America The Beautiful Quarter Program in 2010 within the numismatic community.
In its first year, five silver coins weighing 5 Troy ounces of 99.9% fine silver featured iconic American national sites. This pace continued until 2021, resulting in 56 silver coins in the series.
The Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial Coin is the second release of the 2013 edition and the 17th overall in the series.
Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial in Ohio honors the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812 and symbolizes enduring peace among Britain, Canada, and the United States. It features a towering Doric column standing 352 feet above Lake Erie, near the world's longest undefended border. Named after Master Commandant Oliver Hazard Perry, it also serves as the final resting place for six naval officers—three American and three British—who perished in the battle.
These particular coins are burnished samples purchased from the US Mint within the first 30 days of their official release. They also bear the “P” mint mark, indicating the Philadelphia Mint issued them.
SD Bullion offers 2013-P 5 oz America The Beautiful Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial Burnished Silver Coins, sealed and certified by NGC as SP-69 Early Releases coins.

The Design
On the obverse, George Washington's bust, designed by John Flanagan in 1932, is an inspired version of the President’s official portrayal, created by William Cousins in 1786.
The inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR” are accompanied by the “P” mint mark from the Philadelphia Mint.
The reverse features the statue of Master Commandant Oliver Hazard Perry, with the Peace Memorial, one of the tallest in the U.S., in the distance.
The image includes "PERRY’S VICTORY," "OHIO," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and “2013.”
Burnished Coins
A Burnished Coin results from a “burnishing” process, hence the name. It essentially means that the blanks are cleaned from all oxides formed during the annealing and rimming process. This way, burnished coins get a satin look and a smooth surface but less reflective luster than the Proof version.
An NGC SP-69 Early Releases Coin
Like other third-party services, Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) appraises and grades coins according to the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
SP-69 stands for Specimen-69, which describes a hybrid between Mint State and Proof with nearly imperceptible imperfections.
NGC considers “Early Releases” a coin purchased from its original mint within the first 30 days of its public release.
