2013-P NGC SP-69 Early Releases 5 oz America The Beautiful Fort McHenry Burnished Silver Coin
From 2010 to 2021, the US Mint produced 56 silver coins to compose the America The Beautiful Quarter Program.
Annually, five silver coins, each weighing 5 Troy ounces of 99.9% fine silver, displayed a unique reverse design with an emblematic American park, monument, or forest.
The Fort McHenry Silver Coin is the fourth release of the 2013 edition and the 19th overall in the series.
Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine is located in Maryland. It was made a national site in 1925 and named after James McHenry, our Nation’s second Secretary of War. It became famous for being the birthplace of the national anthem.
These particular coins are burnished samples. They carry the “P” mint mark, indicating they were issued by the Philadelphia Mint and were purchased from the US Mint within the first 30 days of their official release.
At SD Bullion, you can acquire the 2013-P 5 oz America The Beautiful Fort McHenry Burnished Silver Coins, sealed and certified by NGC as SP-69 Early Releases coins.

The reverse depicts the site during the "Defenders Day" celebration, Fort McHenry's leading annual event. The fireworks represent the "rocket's red glare," connecting the fort to its historical significance.
The image is encircled by "FORT McHENRY," "MARYLAND," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and “2013.”
Burnished Coins
A Burnished Coin results from a “burnishing” process, hence the name. It essentially means that the blanks are cleaned from all oxides formed during the annealing and rimming process. This way, burnished coins get a satin look and a smooth surface but less reflective luster than the Proof version.
An NGC SP-69 Early Releases Coin
Like other third-party services, Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) appraises and grades coins according to the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
SP-69 stands for Specimen-69, which describes a hybrid between Mint State and Proof with nearly imperceptible imperfections.
NGC considers “Early Releases” a coin purchased from its original mint within the first 30 days of its public release.
