The Design

The obverse side depicts Lady Liberty moving forward with a torch and an olive branch. The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed above her, alongside the Capitol Building and the coin’s year of issue.

On the reverse side, a female eagle shelters her hatchling under her wing while the male eagle stands guard over their nest. 

It includes "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST," weight, metal content, and face value, which states "1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD—10 DOLLARS."
