Buy 2012 1 oz US Gold Buffalo Coins

Honoring the designs made famous by the old Indian Head Nickel, the 2012 1 oz US Gold Buffalo Coin is yet another release in a successful gold bullion coin program from the US Mint. The first coin in the Gold Buffalo series was launched in 2006 and has mesmerized both collectors and investors ever since with regular annual releases.

Each of these coins contains 1 troy ounce of 0.9999 pure gold. Moreover, they are assigned legal tender status with face values of $50 (USD).

The obverse displays the modified version of Fraser’s Indian Head design – showcasing an Indian Chief. Fraser himself said that this image was an amalgam of the features of three chiefs from three major Native American tribes. It was this image that prompted people to dub the original coin the ‘Indian Head Nickel.’

The reverses of these coins feature ‘Black Diamond,’ a bison in the New York City Central Park Zoo during the early 1900s. The majestic beast reportedly inspired James Earle Fraser, the artist behind this design, who weaved it permanently into the design for the nickel coin in 1913. In fact, this image was so admired that the coin is still known bears the name – Buffalo Nickel.

Their pure gold and the rich history of the designs makes these 2012 1 oz US Gold Buffalo Coins excellent vehicles for investment, precious gifting items, and essential to any American gold coin collection.
