Struck from 22-karat gold (.9167 fineness), the coin’s alloy includes 3% silver and 5,33% copper for added durability. Despite the alloy, it contains a full 1/10 oz of pure gold.

The Design
The obverse displays Lady Liberty with a torch and an olive branch as she walks forward. The march represents the nation’s development with light and peace. It also contains the word “LIBERTY,” the year of mintage, and the US Capitol Building.
The reverse depicts a female eagle protecting its hatchling under her wing while the male eagle perches on their nest.
The description of weight, metal content, and face value reads "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD—5 DOLLARS." Further engravings read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
