Carrying symbols that honor the fundamental values of the United States since its founding, US Gold Eagle coins surely stand among some of the most beautiful gold coins in the precious metals market today. 

Each year, the US Mint offers a Gold Eagles Proof Set that combines the four 22k proof gold coins: 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz.

Produced at the West Point branch, these Proof American Gold Eagles have the “W” mint mark on the obverse side.

The Coin’s Design

Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ design, featured on the obverse, showcases Lady Liberty, the feminine personification of America, walking forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing the nation's march to progress, peace, and enlightenment.

The Capitol Building is imprinted on the lower left, the word “LIBERTY” on top, the coin’s mintage year to the right, and the “W” mint mark below the date. Stars encircle the whole design.

The family of Bald Eagles imprinted on the reverse displays the female Eagle cherishing its hatchling under her wing while the male Eagle perches their nest. 

The inscriptions on this side are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” on top, the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” weight, metal content, and face value engraved at the bottom rim.
