The Design

On the obverse, Lady Liberty’s march forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch, represents the nation's progress toward peace and enlightenment.

The reverse depicts a female eagle cherishing its hatchling under her wing while the male one perches their nest. 

It also displays weight, metal content, and face value, which reads “1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD—25 DOLLARS.” Further inscriptions read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
