Encased in a secure plastic slab by PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service), each of these 2004-W American Silver Eagle Proof Coins from the US Mint graded a perfect PR-70 grade, in addition to a Deep Cameo designation. Attractive blue labels from PCGS display the grades assigned to these coins, their diameter, silver purity and weight, and the year of issue.
PR-70 grades are given to coins that do not exhibit any visible imperfection, even when magnified. Furthermore, coins displaying a high contrast between the mirrored surface of silver and the raised, frosted design are awarded the Deep Cameo designation.
Each of these 2004-W American Silver Eagle Proof coins is minted using 1 troy ounce of 0.999 pure silver. Moreover, the United States Government has assigned a $1 (USD) face value to every one of these coins.
Adolph A. Weinman created the Walking Liberty design featured on the obverse of this coin in 1916. Although it was initially fashioned for the Half-Dollar coin at the time, the design became so popular that it was chosen as the image for the American Silver Eagles’ obverses.
