1996-P PCGS PR-70 American Silver Eagle Proof Coins For Sale
These 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins are perfect specimens from the 1996 releases of coins. Each coin contains 1 troy ounce of 0.999 pure silver. Out of the 500,000 proof coins struck in 1996, only 1,610 of them were given a perfect PR-70 Deep Cameo grade by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). While the Deep Cameo designation indicates a brilliant contrast between the designs and coin surface, the PR-70 grade guarantees a flawless specimen of these coins.
American Silver Eagles have been a popular choice among collectors and investors for several years. Furthermore, PCGS encapsulation ensures the safety of every one of these PR-70 Deep Cameo American Silver Eagle Proof Coins – making them suitable for investment and coin collections.
The Philadelphia Mint of the United States Mint manufactured all the proof coins released in 1996. Each of the coin features a mark ‘P’ that confirms its origin. This year also marks the 10th year (11th coin) since the American Silver Eagle program was launched.
The obverse side of the coin shows the familiar Walking Liberty depiction that portrays Lady Liberty striding towards the rising sun. Designed by the well-known sculptor Adolph A. Weinman in 1916, the Walking Liberty first appeared on the Half-Dollar Silver Coin that year.
On the reverse face, the coin displays the great Heraldic Eagle design. It was inspired by the National Seal of the United States, and was designed by John Mercanti in 1986. Also imprinted on this side – the purity and weight of the silver, and the face value of the coin. The protective plastic slab the coin comes in certifies its Proof grade. These slabs are subject to light abrasion marks, chips, and scuffs with normal wear on them. These marks do not at all hinder the Mint State of the coin assigned to it by PCGS and they do not devalue the slabbed coin in any way.
