The Design
The obverse portrays Lady Liberty striding forward, holding a torch and an olive branch. It includes the word "LIBERTY," the Capitol Building, and the coin’s mintage year. The coin reflects the national journey toward progress, peace, and enlightenment.
The reverse depicts a family of Bald Eagles: a female eagle nurturing her hatchling under her wing while the male stands guard on their nest.
The accompanying inscriptions read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The description of weight, metal content, and face value reads “1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD—10 DOLLARS.”
