The Coins’ Design
The obverse showcases Lady Liberty, the feminine personification of America, walking forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing the nation's march to progress, peace, and enlightenment.
The Capitol Building is imprinted on the lower left, the word “LIBERTY” on top, and the coin’s mintage year to the right. Stars encircle the whole design.
On the reverse, the family of Bald Eagles displays the female Eagle cherishing its hatchling under her wing while the male Eagle perches their nest.
The inscriptions on this side are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” on top, the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” weight, metal content, and face value engraved at the bottom rim.
