1943-S NGC MS-66 Silver Jefferson War Nickel - Original Bag Fragment
The Silver Jefferson War Nickel captures a slice of American history and artistry. The US Mint produced it during World War II, from 1942 to 1945, as part of a special series to conserve vital materials for the war effort.
Instead of the usual copper-nickel alloy, these coins with a 21.2mm diameter were struck from 35% silver, 56% copper, and 9% manganese. Those issued by the San Francisco Mint bear an “S” mint mark.
Today, SD Bullion offers 1943-S Silver Jefferson War Nickel coins, long maintained in their original bag fragment and later graded by NGC as MS-66 coins.

An NGC MS-66 Coin
NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company is an independent third-party service that uses the Sheldon Grading Scale to appraise and grade coins according to their condition. The scale ranks coins from 1 to 70.
MS stands for mint state. It refers to a coin struck in the same format as a business circulation coin that remained uncirculated. Grade 66 indicates the coin may have contact marks and signs of wear and tear, but it is above average in quality of strike and preserved original mint luster.
