1924 PCGS MS-62 $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin in Old Green Holder 

Double Eagle Gold Coins served as the official $20 coin in the United States from 1907 to 1933. 

Produced by the US Mint, each coin contained .9675 Troy ounces of gold and featured a design by Saint-Gaudens. This design was later used for the obverse side of the American Gold Eagle coins.

The Design

The obverse showcases Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty, the feminine guise of the nation, walking forward carrying a torch and an olive branch as a symbol of the nation's future development, with enlightenment and peace. 

It also contains the inscription “LIBERTY” on top, the Capitol Building imprinted on the lower left, and the year of issuance on the right.

The reverse features the Bald Eagle flying above the sun. On this side, the engravings read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWENTY DOLLARS.”

PCGS, or Professional Coin Grading Service, is a well-known third-party organization that evaluates and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale. This scale rates coins on a scale from 1 to 70 based on their condition.

MS stands for Mint State, a coin issued as a business circulation one. Grade 62 suggests that the coin may present marks and hairlines in focal areas, noticeable scuff marks, and below-average planchet quality. But acceptable overall appearance.
