One of the most beautiful gold coins that have circulated in American hands is the $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin, minted by the US Mint from 1907 to 1933. 

The coin's illustrations were designed by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It features a breathtaking depiction of Lady Liberty and the majestic bald eagle in flight.

The $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagle coin contains 0.9675 Troy oz of gold and legal tender status as that period's official $20 coin.

These coins, in particular, were issued in the San Francisco Mint, one of the US Mint branches, and bear the “S” mint mark.
