The Design

On the obverse, Lady Liberty’s portrayal is adorned with a tiara engraved with “LIBERTY.” The thirteen six-pointed stars represent the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the year of mintage is inscribed at the bottom.

The reverse displays the Heraldic Eagle, designed with spread wings. It carries the national shield in front of its chest, arrows in its talons, and the banner “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak. 

It also contains the engravings “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the coin’s face value of “TWENTY DOLLARS.”
