The Design

The Year of the Dragon Gold Bars from Argor-Heraeus have standard characteristics. It is a minted gold bar weighing 1 gram,  rectangularly shaped with rounded edges and both-sided engravings.

The Dragon design is stamped on the obverse and consists of a front facing view of the dragon, in which the creature's sharp paws and twisted body are in focus. Its corresponding Chinese symbol is on the lower right.

The reverse design carries the bar’s weight, metal content, and fineness. They are vertically aligned beneath the Argor-Heraeus logo and read: “Switzerland,” “1g,” “Fine Gold,” and “999,9.”

The assayer’s mark and the unique serial are on the bottom.

The Year of the Dragon

This series displays the Chinese Calendar as a motif. As each new year brings a new zodiac sign, the annual editions feature a new animal. The Dragon is the fifth sign and represents 2024. The previous Years of the Dragon were 2012, 2000, 1988, etc. 

The conducting Astrological sign conduces the year under its ascendence with its characteristics. Therefore, 2024 is expected to reflect the creature’s traits of good luck and prosperity according to Chinese mythology.
