NGC/PCGS MS-69 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin - Random Year
The American Gold Eagle is the official gold bullion coin from the U.S. The US Mint introduced it in 1986 through the Coinage Act of 1985, which created the American Eagle Program.
As a standard, American Gold Eagles are 22k gold coins, hold a monetary denomination of USD 50, and have legal tender status. The coins’ design expresses the most valuable American principles through the iconic symbols: Lady Liberty and the Bald Eagle.
Today, you can purchase from Graded US Gold Eagles, certified as MS-69 coins by either the NGC or the PCGS. However, their mintage years and seals, if NGC or PCGS, may vary according to our inventory availability;

The Obverse Design
Lady Liberty depicted on the obverse reproduces Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ design that featured the 1907 20-dollar Double Eagle Coin.
Stars encircle the whole image. Lady Liberty marches forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch, representing the nation's evolution to progress, peace, and enlightenment. The word “LIBERTY” is engraved on the upper rim. The Capitol Building is on the lower left, and the coin’s mintage year is on the right, in Roman letters.
Reverse Design Type 1
The American Gold Eagle's original reverse design displays a familiar scenery where a female Bald Eagle cherishes its hatchling under her wing while the male Eagle perches their nest.
The inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” arches over the family of eagles, and the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” flank the image. The coin’s weight, metal content, and face value description are at the bottom and read: “1 OZ. FINE GOLD—50 DOLLARS.”
Reverse Design Type 2
The Type 2 reverse design was introduced in 2021 when the American Eagle Program celebrated 35 successful years of production. This new reverse showcases the majestic bald eagle in a close-up depiction with a deep gaze and highlighted hooked beak. The inscriptions accompanying the image refer to the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," the nation’s name "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," while "50 DOLLARS 1 OZ. FINE GOLD" describes the coin’s face value, weight, and metal content.
An NGC or PCGS MS-69 Coin
The PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service and the NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company are independent services that use the Sheldon Grading Scale to appraise and grade coins based on their condition.
The scale ranks coins from 1 to 70.
For both services, an MS-Mint State means that a particular coin has the same format as a business coin for widespread circulation. Grade 69 indicates the coin may present minor flaws but is almost invisible.
