NGC/PCGS MS-64+ $2.50 Indian Head Quarter Eagle Gold Coin - Random Year

The U.S. Mint struck $2.50 Indian Head Quarter Eagle Gold Coins from 1908 to 1929, alongside the $5 Indian Head Half Eagle Gold Coins, which shared a similar design.

Each coin contains .12094 ounces of gold bullion and was minted at the Philadelphia and Denver branches. With a face value of $2.50, these Indian Head Quarter Eagles were legal tender, fully guaranteed by the U.S. Federal Government.

SD Bullion offers $2.50 Indian Head Quarter Eagle Gold Coins of varied mintages. These coins have been sealed in either an NGC or a PCGS slab and certified as MS-64+ samples, randomly selected from our stocks.

Coin Highlights

  • Evaluated, encapsulated, and certified as an MS-64+ coin;

  • May be housed in either an NGC or a PCGS slab;

  • Contains .12094 of actual gold content;

  • Produced by the US Mint between 1908 and 1929;

  • Pre-1933 Gold Coin;

  • Holds a $2,50 face value and legal tender status;

  • The obverse showcases the Indian Head design;

  • The reverse depicts the Bald Eagle;

  • Of varied mintages.

The Design

Sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt, a student of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, signed the design.

The obverse depicts the left-facing bust of a Native American chief wearing a full headdress, surrounded by thirteen five-pointed stars. The word "LIBERTY" arches above the figure, with the year of issuance below.

The reverse features a Bald Eagle perched on an arrow wrapped with an olive branch. The eagle is flanked by "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on the left and "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the right, with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" engraved at the top and the coin’s face value, "2 ½ DOLLARS" at the bottom.

An NGC or PCGS MS-64+ Coin

PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service and the NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company are internationally recognized third-party services that use the Sheldon Grading Scale to classify coins from 1 to 70.

For both services, MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin produced in a business sample format that remained uncirculated. An MS-64+ graded coin is slightly better than an MS-64 one. It may show average luster and noticeable, light scuff marks, but the design is still overall lustrous.

Random Year Purchase
